Continue your journey by taking a scenic drive through the city & Chinatown before stopping at the Thien Hau Pagoda. This Pagoda is dedicated to Thien Hau - The Sea Goddess who protects fisher folk, sailors, merchants and anyone else who travels by sea. Stop for a quick photo session at the Binh Tay Market before proceeding to the Lacquerware workshop and finally shopping at downtown Ho Chi Minh.


VSGN-002 – The Cu Chi Tunnels

Visit the Ceramic Factory and observe a demonstration on how these ceramics are produced locally. Proceed next to the Cu Chi Tunnels which is approximately 40km from the city; the area around Cu Chi was nonetheless controlled by the Viet Cong through its now-legendary system of tunnels. At the height of the war, the tunnels stretched from Saigon through to the Cambodian border. In Cu Chi district alone, there were over 250km of tunnels, some several storeys deep. These days, some of the tunnels - enlarged and upgraded are open to the public, and give a fair idea of the conditions within the system. At their peak, the system of tunnels included kitchens, living areas, hospitals and a network of trap doors to guard against gas and water attacks. Take a scenic drive through the city just before you stop for photo sessions at the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Municipal Post Office and the City Square. Finally stop at the Ben Thanh Market where you will find practically every commodity imaginable from fresh produce to souvenir items.

Head to the Ben Thanh Market to see a chef demonstrate the methods of buying fresh ingredients from the market. Head to a local cooking school next where participants will be paired off to cook a total of 4 mouth-watering Vietnamese dishes. Continue your journey via a scenic drive through the city before quick photo stops at the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Municipal Post Office and the City Square. Finally stop for some local shopping before you head back to the ship.


VSGN-004 – Vung Tau Beach

Enjoy a panoramic drive through the city – highlights include mountains, sculptures, a fishing village and the local beach as you head to Vung Tau whish also known as Cap Saint-Jacques during the French rule. Vung Tau is just 125 km South-East of Ho Chi Minh. This former seaside resort was a place where French colonialists and later U.S. servicemen spent leisure time. Stop at the White Villa, a restored Governor’s residence, which gives visitors an opportunity to see an exhibit of old Chinese pottery salvaged from an 18th century shipwreck. A visit to the Temple of Reclining Buddha and Ocean Park Beach is installed next before proceeding to shop for souvenirs.
