Bhedaghat
Bhedaghat is a tiny village hidden away in the Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh. Growing on the banks of river Narmada, the place is famous for its lovely stretch of glittering marble rocks, roaring Dhuandar falls and the 10th century Chausath Yogini temple. Speckled with white and black volcanic beams, the soaring marble rocks fringe the either side of river Narmada resembling a sheep (bhed). You would be amazed to see the intimidating shadow of these majestic rocks out over the placid waters. Guessing the shape of a rock from its shadow in the blue waters is a fascinating pastime for tourists here. Bhedaghat remains an ideal shooting spot for Bollywood movies. The famous song “Raat ka Nasha” from the Hindi film Ashoka was also picturised here.
The holy Narmada River glides swiftly midst the towering cliffs and beautify this tranquil place. Just a little distance away it tumbles down the cliff and creates a dramatic waterfall known as Dhuandar. The cool spray of water fills the air with freshness. A leisurely boat ride in the deafening silence of the moon lit night with white rocks shimmering like diamonds is a mystical experience.
Besides incredible scenic beauty, Bhedaghat is also renowned for its rich history and culture. It is one of the prime pilgrimage centers in the country. This sleepy town remains a favorite retreat for those who are looking for a quiet break from the buzzing city life.
